Amazon is the most popular marketplace on the internet. It has everything from clothing to furniture to groceries and household items, and is now the third largest retailer in the world. With so many choices, it’s hard to know where to start. Research your competition

Before you even begin to think about building your product or services, you need to be thinking about the competition. Who are the businesses in your niche and are they all selling the same products? There are thousands of online businesses like yours. Which ones are making money? Which ones are growing fast and who are they? These are all good questions to answer before building any business. Your online business will survive only as long as you keep your market moving. To do that you need to see the space as a living room with your competitor sitting right in your living room. How many people are sitting in front of the TV? How many of those people are watching your competitor’s channel? You can’t sell a product to someone if they are not seeing it or they are not considering it.

Figure out what Amazon offers that’s important to you, and use that data to build your product and your business. Don’t do that? Don’t worry – someone will be glad to sell to you. We all know that Amazon has a salesperson system, but most customers don’t realize they can learn from your feedback. After you’ve decided that Amazon is the best place to sell, reach out to them and take advantage of it. The point here is that you need to make your customers the most important thing.

In order to find out about your competition, look at the pages your competitors are selling on. You’ll likely be able to see which product has the most orders at any one time, which often offers a clear indication of the best-selling products. For example, in my house we bought a $300 Samsung TV on Black Friday in 2017. On the day of purchase we were informed by the seller that the television had developed an error on the screen and that it was no longer a Best Buy TV. However, before they could reach out to Best Buy for a refund, the seller offered a 100-day warranty and said they would hold the TV for us and allow us to return it for a replacement if it was still giving us problems. The seller called back the following day to confirm this.

Take great photos

People buy from Amazon because they see a trusted brand and want to support a good brand. That means you need to make sure that your photos are well-lit, your product shots are well-cropped, and that your product photos are clean. What is most important is that you make a good first impression. Your product needs to be seen and your photo should be clear. That's what the buyers see, and that's what they’ll decide whether or not to click “buy.” Embrace your customer While you are uploading your product photos, always look for anything that’s off. Is it crooked? Do the colors look off? Is there something that doesn’t look quite right? Ask yourself if you can fix it, and if not, get it out of there. If you don’t fix it, you are just wasting everyone’s time.

Invest in marketing

Investing in marketing can make the difference between Amazon selling your product or not. Make sure you invest in a professional design. Customers spend more time looking at an attractive product image than at a product description, so invest in good photos.
